So, 2020 had been a very strange year for us all, but especially for couples who had planned to marry and been looking forward to one of the biggest days of your lives for many months, maybe even years.
Firstly, it was weddings for 30 guests, then 15, and currently no weddings at all. However, the good news is that form December 2nd weddings can resume, although numbers are still limited to 15, no receptions in Tier 3 and all with social distancing restrictions. This number may increase by the spring, but I think micro weddings are here to stay for a while yet. Just remember small is beautiful so let’s make it happen for you.
So, what are your options for a small and intimate wedding, or another new word we have learnt in 2020 – a ‘micro wedding’, in the next few months and how can we help you plan this? Don’t worry, we love a challenge and even at short notice, it can be done with minimum stress and be your perfect day, even if perhaps it wasn’t the one you had originally planned!
Why have an intimate wedding?
If the act of getting married sooner rather than later is super important to you, and let’s face it, it should be all about your vows and declaring your love for each other, then a smaller version of your day will be equally as special and memorable. After all, as soon as this pandemic is over (and it will be) you can look forward to THE most amazing party to celebrate again with your wider circle of family and friends!
Another reason is you can have a lower cost but higher quality wedding. Spending your wedding budget on fewer guests means you can invest more on your key suppliers, food, flowers and even two dresses if you want to! So often one of the most stressful parts of planning a wedding for my couples is deciding on the guests list – inviting long lost cousins and colleagues from the office just can’t happen now, so having a select group of your most loved family and friends can make it even more special.

Finding the Perfect Venue
Inevitably this may be different from the hotel, barn or marquee venue you had originally planned for. There are many fabulous venues in Yorkshire perfect for smaller and intimate weddings, you may just need to look at different options and think outside the box. Many restaurants, pubs and private hire venues have rooms that are suited to these smaller numbers, or perhaps you could host your humanist ceremony or after-ceremony celebration at home or in the garden – the possibilities are endless.
We can help you with venue ideas and do the research for you – some venues are offering midweek intimate wedding packages which represent great value, and the marquee companies we work with can supply a smaller tent, complete with heating, fire pits and we have some amazing suppliers in our little black book to style and dress your celebration.
Your ‘A’ list team of suppliers:
We can help you with choosing all your suppliers from a florist, photographer, cake maker, caterer and hair and make-up artists, to companies who can live stream your ceremony, assemble messages from friends and family not able to attend to make your day truly unique and personal to you. We take the stress away by checking availability, pricing and co-ordinating everybody on the day, so you don’t have to worry about anything except turning up and making your vows with your nearest and dearest.
If you do decide to celebrate at home, we can help you transform your gardens or rooms into the perfect intimate celebration – whilst of course adhering to all the rules and guidelines of social distancing. And don’t forget about your personalised wedding face masks and hand sanitiser for each guest!

The ‘After party’
We love nothing more than planning a big wedding or party and just as soon as you are allowed, we can help you. From a band or club DJ to fireworks and incredible food and cocktails, there are all in our little black book, and we they can’t wait to be working again on what will be one heck of a party! We manage everything for you, leaving you free to enjoy the journey and celebrate in style with your guests, stress free and knowing everything is in safe hands.
Elopements
And, if you really want to get married in a hurry with minimum fuss, then consider an elopement! I know you can’t go to Vegas at the moment, but take a look at Gretna Green, plus we know some very gorgeous venues in Scotland where you can get married now with up to 20 guests.
“Choosing Sue for our wedding planner was easy- I could tell straight away we would get on. And I knew she would be very capable and handle anything we could throw at her! That included a very short time frame from engagement to wedding day, a bride struggling with awful morning sickness and change of plan form large wedding to a small and intimate wedding! Sue handled our scale back wonderfully, didn’t bat an eyelid and re-arranged everything taking the stress from me. She has amazing contacts and found us wonderful suppliers from florists, wedding cake makers and a fantastic Motown band. I couldn’t have managed without her. It might be a common misconception that wedding planners are only for larger weddings- definitely not! We had only 20 guests which was wonderfully intimate, but I couldn’t have done it without Sue’s guiding hand and brilliant suggestions” – Becky and Ben
